Amedei (Chocolate Brand)

Amedei is a bean-to-bar chocolate maker based in Tuscany, Italy.

The company was started in 1990 by brother and sister Alessio and Cecilia Tessieri after they found the largest luxury chocolate maker, Valrhona was not interested in supplying their business. Naming the company in honour of their Grandmother, and with no prior chocolate making experience, the Tessieris effectively declared war on Valrhona, traveling the world to source the best possible cocoa beans for their own chocolate.

Today, Amedei produces a wide range of products from couverture to chocolate bars and pralines. They are best known for the blended chocolates, rather than single origin. Their flagship “Amedei 9″ chocolate is a blend of nine different beans, and still regularly wins awards. In 2011, it was given the Academy of Chocolate ‘Golden Bean’ award for the best bean-to-bar dark chocolate in the world.
